Files whose name begins with a dot in UNIX systems are hidden and are not visible by default when accessing ftp.
To include them:
For CuteFTP:
Select the connection you want, then select Properties, then select the Actions tab, then select the Filter button.
In the Filter Properties tab, select Enable filtering and Enable server side filtering. In the Remote filter window type -a
For FAR (latest versions):
When creating a connection, select “Custom LIST command”.
A common command for this is “LIST -la”
For Total Commander:
In the FTP menu item – check the “Show hidden files on the server” box
